Leftwing Evangelicals: An Oxymoron?

Susan Stamper Brown Dec 04, 2017

Hypocrite –  hip-uh-krit “a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc.  that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.”

Donald Trump has been president for a year, yet my social media newsfeed and email inbox still overflow with stupefied leftwing evangelicals who hate Trump (literally) and loathe the conservative Christians that voted for him.  So then, where was the outrage from the same better-than-thou Chardonnay-swirling leftwing evangelical crowd when Christians voted for Obama?

It’s obvious that their condemnation has less to do with evangelicalism or Christianity and more to do with their political leanings.......To Read More....

My Take - The author is right in describing this as hypocrisy, but the real word that should be discussed here is Heresy!  In the late 19th century when European style socialism came to America it wasn't popular because America was a much more religious nation then and European style socialism is fundamentally atheistic.  So they renamed themselves "Progressives", and made religion the binding force, with the religionists of that movement in effect telling the world socialism was the practical application of Christian ethic - hence - the Social Gospel was born.  The real leftists were eventually able to kick the religionists to the curb after WWII, but they're still willing to trot these heretics out when it suits them.   But let's not make any mistake about this - these leftists are heretics....or to paraphrase Christ - “vipers…hypocrites…sons of the devil....get away from me you workers of lawlessness.”

Period!
